Two Poems Found in a Cemetery

January 13th, 2019

16 years the ground lay patient
A cross unmatched
A stone uncarved
Neither less for having gone unmarked
Nor more
Alfio & Opal rest on Heaven's shore

Myrtle weeps
in the gentle breeze
that stirs the grasses on the unmarked graves
Berry bushes unmaintained
Down where the poor folks go
Behind the raucous rodeo
Today they call it non-endowment care
Milky thistles are growing there
& discarded irises
