Bridges Burned

February 1st, 2019

Cars trailing shadows of death
Mineral spirits
Sprinting in the draft
Stirring up ash

This was once my city
Now it isn’t anymore
I wish I had a city
But I don’t have one anymore
I thought this was my city
But I don’t think that anymore
Once I knew this city
But I don’t know it anymore

I shine in the cold
I wither in the heat
Like a
Thistle leaf

What to do when your birthplace

Is no longer your hometown?
